PAIGE FORRESTER BODYWORK
“There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophy.”
As a multi-disciplinary bodyworker, I believe healing is an individual journey and one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves and our lineage.
My goal is to create a therapeutic environment within my studio space for deep healing to unfold.
Together, we can work to alchemize pain, experience healing on a physical and energetic level, and find a blissful balance within the body.
Deep Tissue Massage
This is my standard massage, but is tailored to the client’s needs, and can be any pressure preferred. I use a blend of techniques including ashiatsu (barefoot massage), myofascial release, and trigger point therapy to bring the body into better alignment.
Most clients choose an add-on to this service to enhance the session, but deep tissue alone is also powerful enough as a stand alone service
I began this work at the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, opened my own practice downtown Detroit, and continued to study ashiatsu under Kristy Poux in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Lymphatic Drainage
A relaxing offering to release lymphatic buildup. Benefits include: increasing energy, decreasing bloat, removing toxins, and releasing fluid retention.
I follow the Vodder Technique which is a gentle method of moving fluid from areas of buildup through the path of drainage.
This work has become a big part of my personal self care for fighting inflammation, autoimmune and brain fog- and is why I am passionate about having this as an offering at my studio. I studied under Erin Harris of Academy of Lymphatic Studies in Anchorage, Alaska.
Craniosacral Therapy
A theraputic offering of listening to the body through gentle holds around the head, spine, face, and body. Benefits include nervous system regulation, body awareness, TMJ dysfunction/migraines/spinal release, etc. Everyone’s experience is unique, as this is a practice of meeting your body exactly where it is at.
My craniosacral therapy journey began under Kate Stephanich at the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, which was a biomechanical approach (developed by physician Dr. John E. Upledger), offering techniques on how to coax fluid movement in and around the head and spine.
I continued my studies under Misha and David Sol at the Zen Shiatsu Institute of Chicago, where I learned the biodynamic approach (developed from osteopath Dr. William Sutherland) of complete stillness and listening to the body’s innate intelligence without any imposition.
I currently use a blend of both techniques, and approach each body individually. If you’re curious about this, try it as an add-on as a beautiful ending to your massage session.
Reiki Energy Healing
Energy is everything, and reiki is a beautiful practice of harnessing energy to bring healing to the body, heart and mind.
In your session you can expect an energetic clearing, followed by an illumination and balancing of the chakra system. I combine my craniosacral work into these sessions, so I focus on bringing life into the energy centers and deep into layers of tissue. In most cases, we finish the session with a bit of sound healing and then end with a discussion about what we both felt, along with an oracle card reading.
My journey with reiki began under my first spiritual mentor, Adina Marie Rose, who teaches the Holy Fire and Usui method. I continued my studies under Jeanne Steen, who I still learn and receive from on a continued basis.
I’ve seen that consistent energy work has the power to transform your self confidence, self trust, and sense of safety in a way that bodywork alone cannot.
Reflexology
A foot massage designed to restore balance to the entire body. In my class someone describe the foot as the “computer keyboard of the body” because it holds reflexes associated with our various organs and body parts of your body.
Studied under Brenda Bianchi at the Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage Therapy in Austin, Texas.
Cupping
Adding cupping to your deep tissue treatment is a wonderful way to maximize the results of your session- as it is a way for the cups to work on one part of your body, while massage is happening on another.
Cupping pulls skin away from the muscle which allows blood to circulate in the area, bringing hydration to the muscles, stimulating energy, and releasing stubborn knots.
